Effect of Stone Cover On Reduction Of Surface Evaporation And Increasing Survival Of Seedling

The First International Conference of IALE-Iran

ABSTRACT:

Many researches have been done in different areas and also in Iran (located on the arid belt) in relation with the prevention of desertification and restoration. This research aimed to achieve a way for survival of seedlings and increase of water productivity in Sejzi plain as part of the desert area. In this experiment Haloxylon ammodendron was cultivated under stone cover and control. In the stone cover surface treatment, 80% of the surface of each trench was covered with stones. All treatments were under equally conditions and around all pits to avoid being eaten by rodents such as rats and rabbits, were drawn wire grids. This project was carried out the balance of the CRD (completely randomize design) over a period of nine months. During this period, indicators such as seedling’s height and crown diameter were measured. The obtained data were analyzed by using    software. The results showed that the stone cover surface treatment is suitable technique for growth of Haloxylon ammodendron sapling in these arid conditions.
